The Government today announced that following an open and in-service recruitment exercise, Dr Ge Ming will begin his appointment as Commissioner for Industry (Innovation & Technology) on February 26.
A New Industrialisation Development Office (NIDO), led by Dr Ge, will be established on the same day, and will adopt an industry-oriented approach to promoting new industrialisation in Hong Kong.

The office will focus on such industries as life and health technology, artificial intelligence, and data science, as well as advanced manufacturing and new energy technology, Prof Sun added.
“The NIDO, led by Dr Ge, will carry out the functions of supporting strategic enterprises to develop their businesses in Hong Kong, assisting the local manufacturing sector in upgrading and transformation by making use of I&T, and providing support for start-ups."
Dr Ge stated that he is honoured to be appointed as the commissioner and hopes to leverage his experience in I&T and the new industry sector to contribute towards new industrialisation in Hong Kong.
