Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Kevin Yeung today visited “The Road of Rejuvenation”, an exhibition at the National Museum of China (NMC), and met its Director, Wang Chunfa.

Mr Yeung said that by comprehensively showcasing the country’s path to rejuvenation, the exhibition allows visitors to learn more about the spirit of the Chinese nation and the patriotism as its core, and builds cultural confidence.

Highlighting that, as announced in the recent Policy Address, Hong Kong intends to set up a museum that demonstrates the nation’s achievements, Mr Yeung said the visit to the NMC and exchanges with its representatives would help to guide preparatory work in formulating the museum.

Upon his arrival in Beijing yesterday, the culture chief toured the Museum of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which uses various means to tell the story of the CPC’s centenary-long journey.

Mr Yeung said: “The Museum of the CPC deepens our understanding of the CPC’s centennial history and the essence of its establishment. We fully appreciate the indomitable spirit that Chinese revolutionaries upheld in the Long March, which reminds us to remain true to our original aspirations and bear in mind our mission.”

The museum’s selection and presentation of exhibits will inspire Hong Kong as it plans the content and curation of its own museum showcasing the nation’s development and achievements, he added.

His itinerary also comprised a visit to the Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office (HKMAO) of the State Council, during which he met House Committee Member Xiang Bin and briefed him on the work of the Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau and various initiatives set out in the Policy Address.

Mr Yeung said the HKMAO expressed its clear support for and full recognition of the bureau’s work.
